International journal ROTURA publishes special issue on Biographical Narratives and Digital Media Literacy

The ROTURA – Journal of Communication, Culture and the Arts (ISSN: 2184-8661) (SCOPUS, Q1) has recently released its latest special issue titled Biographical Narratives and Digital Media Literacy in Arts and Society.

The ROTURA – Journal of Communication, Culture and the Arts (ISSN: 2184-8661) (SCOPUS, Q1) has recently released its latest special issue titled Biographical Narratives and Digital Media Literacy in Arts and Society. This edition was guest-edited by Adérito Fernandes Marcos, Dean of the Doctoral School at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao, and Selma Pereira, Professor at ISMAT – Ensino Lusófona, Portugal, bringing together a rich collection of interdisciplinary contributions.

The issue features valuable insights from researchers at USJ Macao, namely from the Rector Prof. Stephen Morgan, the Dean of the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy Fr. Cyril Jerome Jr Law, and Assistant Professor of the Doctoral School Prof. António Maneira. Most of the articles stem from the international symposium Tell.Me – Biographical Narratives in Media and Information Literacy Cities, held on 14 June 2024 at USJ Macao, under the distinguished patronage of the UNESCO MIL Alliance.

This special issue examines the diverse connections between biographical storytelling and digital media literacy, showing how their combination promotes critical thinking, raises diverse voices, and safeguards cultural memory in the digital era. The featured works emphasise personal and collective narratives as essential tools for understanding human experience, shaping historical memory, affirming cultural identity, claiming the right to the city, and developing digital skills. 

The guest editors encourage readers, scholars, and practitioners to engage with this timely and thought-provoking collection, which makes a meaningful contribution to the ongoing discourse on media, culture, and society.

A revista internacional ROTURA publica uma edição especial sobre narrativas biográficas e literacia dos media digitais

A ROTURA – Revista de Comunicação, Cultura e Artes (ISSN: 2184-8661) (SCOPUS, Q1) lançou recentemente a sua última edição especial intitulada Narrativas Biográficas e Literacia dos Media Digitais nas Artes e na Sociedade. Esta edição foi editada por Adérito Fernandes Marcos, Diretor da Escola Doutoral da Universidade de São José (USJ) Macau, e Selma Pereira, Professora no ISMAT – Ensino Lusófona, Portugal, reunindo uma rica coleção de contribuições interdisciplinares.

Esta edição especial apresenta valiosas contribuições de investigadores da USJ, nomeadamente do Reitor Prof. Stephen Morgan, do Diretor da Faculdade dos Estudos Religiosos e Filosofia Pe. Cyril Jerome Jr Law, e Professor Assistente da Escola Doutoral António Maneira. A maioria dos artigos tem origem no simpósio internacional Tell.Me – Biographical Narratives in Media and Information Literacy Cities, realizado em 14 de junho de 2024 na Universidade de São José, em Macau, sob o patrocínio da Aliança MIL da UNESCO.

Esta edição especial examina as diversas conexões entre a narrativa biográfica e a literacia dos media, mostrando como a sua combinação promove o pensamento crítico, eleva vozes diversas e salvaguarda a memória cultural na era digital. Os trabalhos apresentados enfatizam as narrativas pessoais e coletivas como ferramentas essenciais para compreender a experiência humana, moldar a memória histórica, afirmar a identidade cultural, reivindicar o direito à cidade e desenvolver competências digitais. 

Os editores incentivam os leitores, académicos e profissionais a se envolverem com esta coleção oportuna e instigante, que traz uma contribuição significativa para o discurso contínuo sobre media, cultura e sociedade.
