Prof. Ivan Arraut from the Institute of Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) has been nominated and accepted membership as a full member of Sigma Xi: The Scientific Honor Society. Membership in the society is by invitation only, with candidates nominated by existing members based on their research achievements or demonstrated potential.
Sigma Xi is one of the oldest and most distinguished scientific honor societies in the world. It was founded in 1886 at Cornell University by a faculty member and a group of graduate students. The society has a long history of recognising excellence in scientific research, counting approximately 200 Nobel laureates among its past and present members. Notable figures associated with Sigma Xi include Albert Einstein, Enrico Fermi, and Richard Feynman.
The society was a founding member of the Association of College Honor Societies in 1925 and later helped form the Honor Society Caucus, underscoring its longstanding role in shaping the landscape of academic honour societies.
Prof. Arraut’s induction reflects his ongoing contributions to research and his engagement with the international scientific community. As a member of Sigma Xi, he will have the opportunity to expand his network of collaborators, connecting with researchers from top institutions worldwide.
USJ is proud of its faculty members’ achievements and is committed to supporting them in their academic journey.
