Dean of the Institute of Data Engineering and Sciences (IDEAS) at USJ, Prof. George Du, was invited to give a key lecture on “Knowledge Generation, Reasoning and Innovation Technologies in Large Language Models” at the School of Computer Science of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University.

Dean of the Institute for Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Professor George Du, gave an academic lecture to over thirty teachers and postgraduate students of the College of Computer Science at Guangdong Technical Normal University on 1 April 2025.

The lecture was titled “Knowledge Generation, Reasoning and Innovation Technologies in Large Language Models (LLMs)” and it attracted strong interest from the students and faculty members.

Professor Du pointed out that the technological development of LLMs is evolving from single language processing to multimodal collaboration and from static knowledge bases to dynamic knowledge management. The core lies in the breadth of knowledge generation, the depth of reasoning ability, and the innovation in cross-domain applications. Professor Du claimed that combining explicit logical enhancement of knowledge graphs, optimisation of retrieval-enhanced generation technology, and deep integration of multimodal data will become the key to breaking through technological bottlenecks in the future.
