Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law delivered a talk on “Balancing Freedom and Responsibility in the Digital Age of a Free Society” at the Estoril Political Forum 2025.



Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao attended the Estoril Political Forum 2025 on 4 June in Estoril, Portugal, and delivered a talk on “Balancing Freedom and Responsibility in the Digital Age of a Free Society” in the session on Information, Control and the Free Society.

The Estoril Political Forum is organised by the Institute of Political Studies of the Portuguese Catholic University (IEP-Católica). In its 33rd edition this year, the Forum explored the topic “The Future of Democracy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”.

Expertise from various Universities, and politicians around the world were invited to present ideas and participate in discussions. Over ten sessions were organised over the three-day Forum to explore the opportunities and threats of AI on democracy, and our next step forward.
