The USJ Sports Day 2025 Draws Over 100 Participants, Setting a New Record on Campus Health and Engagement
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) hosted the “2025 USJ Sports Day” on 8 and 9 March 2025, attracting over 100 students, staff and alumni, marking the highest participation in the event’s history. Featuring basketball, soccer, volleyball and badminton competitions, the activity promoted physical and mental well-being across the campus community, embodying the spirit of “Creating Mutual Enjoyment in Sports With Active Participation “.
The event commenced at the USJ campus on March 8, 2025, starting with the volleyball matches at 9 pm, where six teams competed intensely. “Loser Victory” claimed the championship title. At 1 pm, badminton and basketball events took place simultaneously on the court. Samanda Deng successfully defended her title in the women’s singles with her remarkable skill, while the men’s singles final showcased an exciting battle between Lo Yu Fung and Ng Pak Kiu. On the basketball court, “有請下一隊” secured the championship through excellent teamwork.
The soccer finals were held at CDSJ5 on 9 March 2025. “USJ Lads” and “St. Thomas Aquinas” fought hard, finishing regular play in a 2-2 draw. In the end, “USJ Lads” emerged victorious in a penalty shootout, winning 3-2 to secure the championship title.
This year’s USJ Sports Day showcased the commitment of over 100 participants to maintaining physical and mental well-being. The university plans to further develop diverse sports platforms, integrating health awareness into everyday life. A faculty member who participated in the soccer match remarked, “The USJ Sports Day is a wonderful chance to connect with students outside the classroom. Witnessing everyone’s dedication and teamwork exemplifies the values we uphold.” An alumnus who took part in badminton reflected, “Coming back to campus for the USJ Sports Day feels like returning home. It’s not just about the competition; it’s about experiencing the unique camaraderie and energy that make USJ special.” A student from the BCM programme who joined the activity as a basketball player stated, “The memory of laughter and playing hard with my teammates is far more valuable than the trophy. Playing sports is a remarkable way of uniting people from different backgrounds.”
The activity wrapped up with cheers and group photos. The participants pledged to return next year, continuing to spread positivity on campus through their passion for sports.
