Public Lecture | “Procrastination, play and daily sketching”

07

Nov

The Public Lecture “Procrastination, play and daily sketching” by Ana Isabel Ramos will take place on Friday, 7 November, at the Don Bosco Auditorium in USJ Ilha Verde Campus.

About the Talk:

In this session, we will look at procrastination from a different angle and understand how it brings important information to light.

We will find ways to overcome procrastination, with a focus on the importance of play, and the role of sketching daily in experimentation, exploration and expansion.

About the Speaker:

Ana Isabel Ramos (Lisbon, 1978) is a designer, illustrator, creativity mentor and artist living in Lisbon, Portugal. A native of this city, Ana has made Lisbon her home after having lived in three continents. Having the first-hand experience of being a foreigner when she lived abroad, Ana knows how long it can take to really get to know a new place – and believes sketching is a shortcut to that end.

Ana has been sketching all her life, and as a daily practice since the beginning of 2021, and her relationship to time and space has changed because of that. Sketching slows everything down and affords a different connection with the people around us and the place where we are.

Ana has worked with clients such as the World Food Program of the United Nations, with projects in design, illustration and animation and her work has been published in magazines such as Flow Magazine (The Netherlands), Uppercase (Canada), and in volume “S – Stitch Illo” of the “Encyclopedia of Inspiration”, by Uppercase Publishing.

Ana wrote and illustrated her first children’s book, “Livro do Não”. The original embroidered illustrations are on show at the Casa de Portugal em Macau.

Ana uses sketchbook drawing as a tool in her personal leadership work with women, to help them connect to their inner wisdom and creativity, in order to get clarity and live life more fully and in technicolor.
