IDEAS Hosts Seminar on Basic Quantum Mechanics by Prof. Sunny Wang, Concluding Lifelong Learning Course on Quantum Communication and Technologies.
The Institute for Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS) welcomed Prof. Sunny Wang from the Department of Physics at City University of Hong Kong to deliver a seminar on Basic Quantum Mechanics on 19 March at the Don Bosco Auditorium in Ilha Verde Campus. The event served as the final complement to the lifelong learning course “Introduction to Quantum Communication and Technologies” offered by the USJ Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office (ETLLO) and taught by Prof. Ivan Arraut.
Prof. Wang’s lecture, designed for a general audience, presented core concepts of quantum mechanics in an accessible and engaging way.
Quantum mechanics is the foundation for technologies we rely on every day in practical applications such as lasers, transistors and semiconductors, LED lighting, GPS, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
