The School of Education of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Colégio Diocesano de São José 5 (CDSJ5) held a joint teaching and research activity on 14 and 20 November.
The School of Education of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Colégio Diocesano de São José 5 (CDSJ5) held a joint teaching and research activity on 14 and 20 November.
Upon arrival at CDSJ5, the USJ delegation were warmly received by Dr. Cheng Cheuk Kee, Vice-Principal, Ms. Elizabeth Marie Ritchie and Ms. Chan I Tan, Deans of the Primary English Section, and Ms. Cheong Ka Lai, Mathematics Panel Head. The visiting group toured the campus and teaching facilities, experiencing the school’s strong learning atmosphere and unique culture, which laid a solid foundation for the subsequent teaching activities.
The teaching demonstration segment featured exemplary lessons delivered by CDSJ5’s Primary English Section teachers including Ms. Sio Jelaine Mary Ramos (English), Ms. Lam Nam Lan (General Studies) and Ms. Chan Ka Ieng (Mathematics), showcasing student-centred, multi-faceted teaching approaches. Subsequently, USJ’s students were divided into groups to apply pedagogical theories flexibly within authentic classroom settings.
The event concluded with a joint teaching research discussion and lesson evaluation session. Assistant Professor Zhao Wenmin of the School of Education, and CDSJ5 faculty members provided feedback and analysis on the demonstration lessons and the teaching performance of the student-teachers. The discussion covered topics such as the optimization of instructional design, classroom interaction techniques, and student learning outcomes, accumulating vital experience for future teaching research cooperation and talent development between the two institutions.
