USJ Macao and Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation Renew Academic Partnership aimed to fostering cooperation in the areas of joint academic programmes, faculty and student exchange, and collaborative research initiatives.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao and the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF), Philippines, have renewed their academic partnership through the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 29 September, 2025, in Manila.
This renewal builds upon the foundations established in 2012, when the two institutions first formalised their collaboration aimed to fostering cooperation in areas such as joint academic programmes, faculty and student exchange, and collaborative research initiatives.
Representing USJ, Professor Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, met with senior officials from MSEUF, who warmly welcomed the delegation. The MSEUF leadership was represented by Celso D. Jaballa, Vice President for External Relations, Dr. Claudia Odette J. Ayala, Assistant to the Vice President for Academics and Research, and Dr. Jennifer B. Reyes, Director of the Global Engagement Office.
Among the opportunities for collaboration under the renewed agreement is USJ’s Prison Outreach Programme, launched in 2009. The programme seeks to guide and encourage incarcerated individuals to pursue higher education and improve their professional qualifications to the college level. USJ’s mission of inclusive education and social responsibility with MSEUF’s involvement will help extend the programme’s reach and impact.
Vice-Rector Barbosa said that “since 2012, USJ and MSEUF have worked together to promote academic cooperation, and this new phase will allow us to broaden opportunities for our communities, including innovative programmes such as prison education”.
MSEUF leaders also expressed optimism about the collaboration, stressing the value of global linkages in enhancing educational opportunities and contributing to social development.
The signing marks a new chapter in the partnership between USJ and MSEUF, strengthening cross-border collaboration and reinforcing both institutions’ shared mission of delivering globally relevant and socially engaged higher education.
