The visit to MIF served as a dynamic, real-world extension of the BBA classroom studies, providing an up-close view of the mechanisms of international trade and global economic interconnectivity.
In a vibrant demonstration of experiential learning, the USJ Faculty of Business and Law’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students from the WorldLab course, led by Prof. Florence Lei, visited the 30th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair (MIF) on Friday 24 October. The visit served as a dynamic, real-world extension of their classroom studies, providing an up-close view of the mechanisms of international trade and global economic interconnectivity.

The WorldLab course is designed to move beyond theory, emphasizing learning through direct engagement and observation. The MIF, as one of the most significant trade and investment platforms in the region, offered the perfect living laboratory for this purpose. Students had the opportunity to analyze the current international trade environment, with a special focus on Macao’s key trading partners and its strategic role as a bridge between China and the Lusophone world.

Throughout the visit, students actively engaged with exhibitors from diverse industries and continents. These interactions were a core part of the learning objective, allowing them to understand the who, what, why, how, and when of international trade. By speaking directly with business leaders and representatives, they gained insights into the practical challenges and opportunities in today’s globalized markets.

Prof. Florence Lei extends special gratitude to the MIF organizers for their exceptional support in facilitating a highly informative guided tour tailored to the students’ academic needs and for sponsoring the group’s transportation. Their commitment to fostering the next generation of business leaders is deeply appreciated.
