USJ Prof. Nuno Soares, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, was elected as Vice President of Zone C of ARCASIA for the years 2017 and 2018.

Prof. Nuno Soares, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture from the Faculty of Creative Industries at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), was elected as Vice President of Zone C of ARCASIA for the years 2017 and 2018, at the ARCASIA Handing over ceremony, on January 14, 2017, in Islamabad.

The Architects Regional Council of Asia (ARCASIA) is the only organisation of architects working for the upliftment of the profession in the Asia Region. The affairs of ARCASIA are looked after by its council, which consists of its office bearers and presidents of the member institutes. The council also appoints various specialised committees to address specific issues related to the profession of architecture.

The council is now formed by twenty-two Asian countries represented by their member institutes and is divided into three zones (A, B, and C). The Architects Association of Macau (AAM), in which Prof. Nuno Soares is a member of the board of directors, is the member institute that represents the territory.

Prof. Nuno Soares has been actively involved with ARCASIA since 2013, mainly in the education field. His previous roles were Chairman of ACAE – ARCASIA Committee of Architecture Education – from 2015 to 2016 and Deputy Chairman of the same Committee from 2013 to 2014.

As ARCASIA Vice President Zone C, Prof. Nuno Soares will now coordinate the collaboration between all institute members integrated in the Zone C countries: Architects Association of Macau (AAM), Architectural Society of China (ASC), Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), Japan Institute of Architects (JIA), Korea Institute of Registered Architects (KIRA) and Union of Mongolian Architects (UMA).
