The Award Ceremony and Exhibition Opening of this year’s Macau Architectural Photography Competition took place at Ponte 9 – Creative Platform, on the afternoon of October 21st, 2023.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) was a partner of the second edition of the Macau Architectural Photography Competition, organized by CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism. The event challenged photography enthusiasts to look beyond the obvious to capture the overlooked architecture that deserves more attention and appreciation. The participants were invited to explore Macau’s architectural landscape and discover surprising examples of architectural innovation, history, or beauty in unexpected places.
This year’s edition had two categories – open group and student group – and received 468 photographs submissions from 198 participants. All entries were evaluated by a panel of experienced judges who selected the best photographs for this year’s theme, considering their artistic and technical quality and originality of vision.
Rector of USJ, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan was also present at the event.
Ar. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design of the FAH at USJ and President of the Board of CURB, handed the awards for the Open Group winners. Prof. Carlos Sena Caires, Dean of the FAH at USJ, was present to give the certificates and prizes to the Student Group awardees.
