USJ signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Van Lang University (VLU) on Oct 12, 2023, during a formal visit to VLU’s Ho Chi Minh City Campus.
On October 12, 2023, a delegation of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), composed of Professor Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-rector of Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, along with Prof. Filipa Martins de Abreu, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and Ms. Uyên Trần Mỹ Phương, Head of Vietnam Recruitment, made a formal visit to the Van Lang University (VLU) and met with its representatives including Vice-President Bui Pham Lan Phuong, Dean of the Faculty of Creative Technology Prof. Vo Van Lac, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities Prof. Nguyen Bao Thanh Nghi, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Public Relations and Communications Professor Le Viet Tho, Deputy Head, Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities Kieu Van Tu, and various other professors on a joint route for several innovative activities.
Both parties were pleased with the outcome of the meeting, which laid the groundwork for an exciting cooperation. The conversation included exchange programmes, graduate opportunities, and joint workshops, signalling the start of an active collaboration. Key subjects were discussed in this engaging debate, laying the groundwork for a well-defined agreement and ensuring a quick start to collaborative activities. The upbeat dialogues and mutual dedication of all participants indicate a shared vision for the future.

Represented by Prof. Álvaro Barbosa and Ms. Bùi Phạm Lan Phương respectively, USJ and VLU signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) after introductory presentations and a campus tour during the morning of the visit.
Collaborations have been in discussion between the institutions’ Creative Industries, Arts and Social Sciences Faculties, including the establishment of short-term exchanges, dual-degree programmes and hands-on learning opportunities. VLU also anticipates hosting a series of student workshops later this year featuring USJ professors. Both Universities are thrilled to embark on a road offering innovation, academic success, and a better educational experience for all students, professors and staff.
