On 1 March, a USJ delegation visited Suez and Macao Water to explore opportunities for collaboration.

On 1 March, a delegation of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) visited Suez and Macao Water to explore opportunities for collaboration. The delegation, led by Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, met with representatives from Suez and Macao Water for talks on potential collaboration.

During the visit, the USJ delegation met with Ms. Angel Cheong, Director of Administration & Human Resources Department at Suez, and Mr. Chapman Wong, Deputy General Manager at Macao Water. The discussion focussed on exploring common areas of interest, in particular, on the possibility of initiating industry training programmes and collaborative research related to sustainability. Prof. Karen Tagulao, Coordinator for the Master of Environmental Sciences and Management at USJ’s Institute of Science and Environment (ISE), along with Prof. Thomas Lei, Programme Coordinator for the Bachelor of Environmental Sciences, explored educational and research opportunities that the institute could offer to industry partners. ISE representatives Emeritus Prof. Chan Shek Kiu and Ms. Sammy Chan also joined the visit.

The meeting was followed by a tour of the water production plant, where the delegation gained insights into the various treatment processes and smart water networks employed for ensuring clean water availability across Macao. The visit concluded with a tasting session of freshly treated water, accompanied by a celebratory toast.

In closing, USJ reaffirmed its commitment to providing educational opportunities aligned with professional interests and serving the Macao community. The university aims to foster continuous learning, strengthen research impacts, and establish networks with industry partners and community stakeholders.
