US Macao has established a formal academic partnership with the Bratislava University of Economics and Management (BUEM) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and an Erasmus+ agreement.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao has established a formal academic partnership with the Bratislava University of Economics and Management (BUEM) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and an Erasmus+ agreement. This collaboration is poised to foster lasting reciprocal initiatives, enhancing quality education and strengthening academic connections between Europe and Asia.
On September 9, 2025, Vice-Rector of BUEM, Professor Michal Fabuš, and Vice-Rector for Foreign Relations of BUEM, Professor Marián Kováč, visited USJ, where they were received by Professor Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation of USJ.
During this visit, the MoU was formally signed, demonstrating a mutual commitment to promoting mobility, joint initiatives, and advancing innovative international academic endeavours. In tandem, USJ has become the first Erasmus+ partner of BUEM in the Macao SAR, China, by formalising an inter-institutional agreement focusing on management and administration. This collaboration aims to create significant international opportunities for students and faculty pursuing advanced studies in Business Administration, as well as for those interested in entrepreneurship and startup initiatives. Selected participants will have access to Erasmus+ grants, thereby mitigating financial barriers.
The meeting was attended by several faculty members, including Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law; Prof. Ansoumane Douty Diakité, Head of the Department of Law and Public Policy; Prof. Alessandro Lampo, Head of the Department of Business Studies; and Ms. Teresinha Fok from the International Affairs Office.
