Co-organized by the Jelly’s Musikgarten and the Macao Observatory for Social Development at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), the “Twenty-four Filial Exemplars” Children’s Drama staged four performances in March and April. Through lively drama performances, children were able to interpret traditional filial piety stories and interact with the elderly, successfully building a bridge for inter-generational communication.

This event was an innovative form of arts education that brought to the stage the classic stories of “the Twenty-four Filial Exemplars” from traditional Chinese culture. Through the touching stories such as “Hiding Oranges to Please Mother” and “Carrying Rice to Feed Parents”, the young actors vividly portrayed the spirit of filial piety. The event attracted more than 200 participants, the response from the audience was enthusiastic. In addition, the Faculty of Health Sciences of USJ also arranged teachers and students to participate in this event. Apart from assisting the children in their performances, they also played games and exchanged gifts with the elderly in the nursing home, practicing the spirit of caring for the elderly and the young.
