SED's Prof. Frances Lee Gives Talk at the "2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Inclusive Education Forum" in Hong Kong

Prof. Frances Lee gave a Talk on “Training of Educational Personnel in Macao’s Inclusive Education” at the “2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Inclusive Education Forum” held in Hong Kong.



The “2023 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Inclusive Education Forum” was held in Hong Kong on October 12th and 13 this year. The event received support from the Education Department of Guangdong Province, the Education Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, and the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government. It was themed “Solidarity and Inclusiveness – New Vision on Special Education in Guangdong Province, Hong Kong, and Macau” and involved lectures and special topic discussions. These sessions explored topics such as enhancing facilities for inclusive education, teacher training, curriculum development, and teaching innovation. The goal was to promote academic exchange and development in inclusive education in the Greater Bay Area and jointly discuss the development of inclusive education, including teacher training, pedagogical innovation, parental involvement, and student career planning.

Ms. Choi Man Chi, Chief of Division of Infant and Primary Education of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, led the Education and Youth Development Bureau to organize a delegation of 19 representatives from higher education institutions, non-tertiary education schools and institutions to attend the Forum. It attracted over 500 scholars in the field of special education, experts, school principals, frontline educators, teachers, and parents from various regions of the Greater Bay Area.

In the conference, Associate Professor Frances Lee from School of Education introduced the inclusive education system in Macao and the training model and practices for educational personnel. She demonstrated the efforts and support from the government, universities, and teachers within Macao’s educational system towards inclusive education.

Through two days of learning and exchange, all participants greatly benefited from the event, with a continued focus on enhancing and improving inclusive education.
