Dean of SED visited Chongqing Normal University and delivered a Talk about Special and Inclusive Education in Macao

Dean of the School of Education Prof. Rochelle Ge participate in the International Conference on “High-Quality Development in Special Education: Unity of Knowledge and Action” from 15 – 17 December 2023 at Chongqing Normal University.



From 15 – 17 December 2023, the Dean of the School of Education at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Professor Rochelle Ge, was invited to participate in the International Conference on “High-Quality Development in Special Education: Unity of Knowledge and Action”. The Conference celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Special Education Programme at Chongqing Normal University, during which Prof. Ge delivered a Talk titled “Development and Teachers’ Training of Special and Inclusive Education in Macau.”

The event saw the participation of over 300 experts, professors, representatives from schools and institutions, as well as teachers and students in the field of special education from both domestic and international institutions. Other representatives from the Greater Bay Area were Professor Kenneith Sin, Executive Director of the Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education at the Education University of Hong Kong and Professor Chen Xiaomeng, Head of the School of Special Education at South China Normal University.

On 17 December, Professor Zhu Guiqin, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Chongqing Normal University, along with Professor Wei Shouhong,  Head of the Special Education Department, Professor Gao Xiaohui, Deputy Head of the Special Education Department, and Professor Xu Suqiong, from the same Department, engaged in discussions with Prof. Ge. The topics covered included further collaboration between the two institutions in the areas of special education teacher training, research cooperation, and student and teacher exchanges. The visit to Chongqing provided a platform for valuable insights and collaborative efforts to enhance the development of special education, fostering a spirit of unity and shared knowledge among experts and professionals from different regions.
