BBA Year-2 and Year-3 students visited Tak Seng On Pawnshop Museum and the Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) Main Branch on February 2.

Earlier this month, students of the Bachelor of Business Administration Year-2 and Year-3 visited Tak Seng On Pawnshop Museum and the Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU) Main Branch.

Prof. Florence Lei organised this field visit for students of the “Macau Studies” and “Life Lab” modules so that they could learn about the functions of historical financial institutions and their significance to Macao’s economic development.

Tak Seng On was restored in 2004 as part of the Conservation of Cultural Heritage of Macao. The tour-guides illustrated how the traditional pawnshop operated its daily businesses.

BNU was Macao’s first commercial bank, with its history dating back to the early 20th century. Bank representative showed students photos of early Macao pataca notes issued by BNU. Students also learned about the modern financial services provided by BNU, and more importantly, their contributions to the local community.
