The Doctoral Talks on Campus: “Navigating Nature’s Flows: Art, Design, and the Environment (part II)” will take place on 31 October at the USJ Conference Room.
ABOUT DOCTORAL TALKS ON CAMPUS:
Fostering transdisciplinary perspectives in thought, research and development in the doctoral and post-doctoral programmes of the University of Saint Joseph in Macao.
ABOUT THE TALK:
This two-day seminar explores the relationship between design, art, nature, and the environment from a Latin American perspective, focusing on Brazil. It addresses contemporary debates on the Anthropocene and climate crisis, challenging extractivist and colonial paradigms.
On the second day, the focus will be on analyzing the solo exhibition “Portals, Walkways, and Pomanders” by Gilbertto Prado and the Digital Poetics Group at the Contemporary Art Museum of São Paulo (MAC-USP) from September 2025 to February 2026. Featuring eleven interactive installations, the exhibition explores the intersection of art and technology, addressing environmental issues and envisioning alternative ways of living.
Following the discussion, the course will end with a sharing session, where participants can briefly present (up to 10 minutes) their projects, experiences, or reflections related to the issues discussed. This fosters a communal space for listening, exchange, and the development of new ideas.
Keywords: Nature; Art and Technology; Installation; Devices; Interfaces.
