University of Saint Joseph (USJ) is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the College of Arts and Sciences of Vin University (VinUni) and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of USJ on August 31.
The MoU was signed following a meeting between the two institutions, with the shared objective of strengthening academic cooperation and establishing a structured foundation for future collaboration.
The MoU signing follows discussions initiated after the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, visited VinUni in June. During the visit, both institutions agreed that a partnership between the universities would create opportunities to support meaningful collaboration and advance shared goals. Building on this commitment, both parties are now pleased to proceed with the formal signing of the MoU.
At the August 31 meeting, the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, VinUni, outlined potential areas of collaboration and identified practical next steps. Based on USJ’s input following the discussion, the Communication and Media programme was identified as an appropriate starting point for exchanges and potential joint initiatives. The meeting also considered the possibility of developing a Double Degree arrangement, alongside longer-term planning to expand cooperation across relevant academic disciplines.
In addition to communication and media, both institutions explored future opportunities in the field of Design. Further discussions are expected regarding undergraduate and master’s programme collaboration in Design at USJ, with the goal of enabling broader academic linkages in the years ahead.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Carlos Caires, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and Prof. João Brochado, Head of the Department of Media, Arts and Technology, from USJ; as well as Prof. Umberto, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, from Vin University.
