USJ and Macau Guizhou General Association Visit Guizhou Provincial Department of Education to Promote Talent Training Cooperation between Guizhou and Macau

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ), together with the Macau Guizhou General Association, recently visited the Department of Education of Guizhou Province to discuss future educational cooperation between the two regions.



The University of Saint Joseph (USJ), together with the Macau Guizhou General Association, recently visited the Department of Education of Guizhou Province. The two parties held in-depth discussions on topics including higher education exchanges between Guizhou and Macau, joint talent cultivation, and collaboration at the master’s degree level, reaching multiple consensus agreements and opening a new chapter for future educational cooperation between the two regions.

The symposium was held on April 16 at the Department of Education of Guizhou Province and was chaired by Bai Zhen, Deputy Director – General of the Department of Education of Guizhou Province. The Macau-Guizhou delegation included Ao Pak Loi, Standing Committee Member of the Guizhou Provincial CPPCC; Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector of USJ; and David Yang, Assistant Head of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office of USJ. Representatives from the UFWD of Guizhou province included Kong Xianglong, Director of the Third Division, etc. Representatives from the Department of Education of Guizhou Province included Bai Zhen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Education of Guizhou Province, and Member of the Provincial Education Work Committee; Chen Wenyi, Director of the Office of the Secretariat of the Organizing Committee of China–ASEAN Education Cooperation; and Liao Tian, International office of the Department of Education of Guizhou Province.

Following in-depth discussions during the meeting, the parties reached preliminary consensus, particularly on talent training at the master’s and doctoral levels. Future cooperation directions will be further explored, fully leveraging Macau’s advantages as a China-Portuguese-speaking countries platform and an international education hub, while integrating the educational development needs of Guizhou Province to jointly cultivate high-level talents with international perspectives and professional competitiveness.

This meeting has laid a solid foundation for educational cooperation between Guizhou and Macau. USJ will continue to promote cross-regional academic collaboration, contributing to the sharing of educational resources and the construction of a talent hub in both regions.

This cooperation not only signifies the expansion of USJ’s partner network with mainland institutions but also puts into practice the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
