A delegation from Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), Thailand, visited the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao on 24 April 2026. The visit marked an important step towards strengthening institutional collaboration, with a focus on academic exchange and student mobility
The SWU delegation was warmly welcomed by Acting Rector, Dr Alejandro Salcedo Garcia, alongside Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs; Prof. Alexandre Lobo, Vice-Rector for Academic Research and Innovation; Prof. Alessandro Lampo, Head of the Department of Business Studies of the Faculty of Business and Law, and Prof. Karen Tagulao, Programme Coordinator for the Institute of Science and Environment.
In his welcome address, Dr Alejandro Salcedo Garcia presented an overview of USJ’s development, academic profile, and internationalisation strategy. Prof. Álvaro Barbosa highlighted USJ’s commitment to expanding international partnerships and fostering collaboration in areas of mutual interest, particularly in talent development and research innovation.
This visit provided both institutions with an opportunity to explore avenues for cooperation and to express a shared interest in establishing formal university-level collaboration. Initial discussions also considered potential areas of joint work, with both sides recognising the complementarity of their academic programmes and institutional priorities.
The visit strengthened mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation, including the possibility of formal agreements and collaborative initiatives. USJ Macao remains committed to building strong international partnerships and advancing meaningful academic exchange with leading institutions worldwide.
