On 10 February 2026, student and representatives from the Department of Social Work, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), presented a donation of MOP 39,523.55 to Caritas Macau. The funds were raised during the USJ’s participation in the 56th Caritas Charity Bazaar, held from 1 to 2 November 2025.
Under this year’s theme, “Care and Cherish Each Other, Heart for All”, the bazaar promoted community solidarity and mutual support. Social work students took a leading role in organising and managing the faculty’s activities, from preliminary preparations to operating the booth over the two-day event. Their dedicated efforts demonstrated strong teamwork and a commitment to social responsibility.
The donation was formally handed over to Mr. Paul Pun, Secretary-General of Caritas Macau, in the presence of USJ’s Acting Rector, Dr. Alejandro Salcedo Garcia. USJ’s contribution and support for the charitable cause also teaches and cultivates civic-mindedness among students.
Apart from fundraising, the bazaar provided students with practical experience in event management and community engagement, deepening their understanding of social work values. The Faculty of Health Sciences extends its sincere appreciation to Caritas Macau for organising this meaningful event, which offered students a valuable platform to apply their learning and strengthen their sense of social responsibility.
