USJ Welcomes Delegation from St. Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics (UMTE)

This courtesy visit has further strengthened the long-standing collaboration between USJ Macao and UMTE, Russia.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) was honoured to welcome a delegation from St. Petersburg University of Management Technologies and Economics (UMTE), Russia, on 15 January 2026.
The delegation was led by Prof. Dr Oleg Smeshko, PhD, Rector of UMTE, accompanied by Prof. Dr Anna Rumyantseva, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs. Representing USJ were Professor Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, and Mrs Paula Mota, Head of the International Affairs Office.
During the visit, the UMTE delegation engaged with their students currently on exchange at USJ, expressing appreciation for the fruitful collaboration established since 2021. They highlighted the success of the student exchange programme and commended USJ’s openness to exploring new avenues of cooperation. Discussions focused on expanding joint initiatives in research, innovation, and academic exchange, reinforcing the strong ties between the two institutions.
Professor Álvaro Barbosa introduced USJ’s strategic vision for internationalisation, emphasising the University’s commitment to establishing sustainable partnerships that foster intercultural dialogue, academic excellence and innovation.
This courtesy visit has further strengthened the long-standing collaboration between USJ and UMTE, paving the way for future opportunities from which students, faculty and the wider academic community will benefit.
