The USJ Macao Observatory for Social Development provides a variety of health education and wellness services that are of great importance to our community.

Established in 2020, the Macao Observatory for Social Development (MOSD) is an academic research unit under the University of Saint Joseph. Its purpose is to collaborate with social service organisations in Macao in the fields of social development, health and welfare, and to study the social impact of social welfare and health policies both locally and within the Greater Bay Area. It publishes relevant research and surveys in collaboration with partners on an ad hoc basis.

In the past, the MOSD has organised and participated in numerous significant collaborations and activities. In addition to areas such as youth health and social welfare, it has also focused on regional cooperation projects, signing cooperation agreements with institutions including the China Institute of Responsibility Management Education and Sustainable Development, the Doctoral Think Tank, and the Macao Model United Nations Promotion Association. It actively promotes local and international social development issues, strengthens the integration of academic research and practical application, and enhances the overall level of social welfare in Macao.

Furthermore, the Centre regularly organises various targeted professional training courses and has been accredited by the Professional Committee of Social Workers of the Macao SAR Government as a training provider. In addition to cultivating local talent, it provides a platform for professional development for social service organisations and practitioners in related fields.
