The Chaplaincy of the University of Saint Joseph organised a two-day Lenten retreat to better prepare the faithful’s hearts for Lord Jesus Christ’s resurrection and deepen the faith of the participants. The retreat was opened to all students and staff members of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), as well as the general public and more than a dozen of attendees joined.

The retreat started on the 08th of April, 2022, with a silent prayer and Holy Mass at the Holy Cross Chapel, followed by the Via Crucis and Eucharist Adoration, which was celebrated in the Ilha Verde campus, through the coordination of Sister Cheung SSVM, and Reverend Father Daniel Antônio de Carvalho Ribeiro, SCJ respectively.

Based on the theme Passion and Death, the participants had an opportunity to reflect on the theme of Lent, as a time of renewal and reflecting the values of bearing one’s own Cross, during and after the spiritual talk given by Reverend Father José Mario O Mandia.

The participants were invited to share their life experiences with the facilitation by Reverend Father Rafael Gemelli Vigolo, MCCJ, and Mr. Bosco Wong, the Office Director of Diocesan Youth Commission.  The end of the retreat was celebrated with a Holy Eucharist and simple lunch held in the vigil of Palm Sunday.

The retreat was sponsored by the University of Saint Joseph.
