On October 26th, PIRO took a group of Fall Semester International Exchange Students for dinner at Nga Tim Restaurant, as part of “Ye Maan Sik Faan” – A Macao Inside Out Event.
On October 26th, Saturday, several members of the Public and International Relations Office took a group of Fall Semester International Exchange Students for dinner at Nga Tim Restaurant, a restaurant located in the Coloane village that has an extensive and rich history.
With the aim of fostering integration with the local culture and costumes, students had the opportunity to savour popular Cantonese dishes, like crispy fried icefishes, traditional Yangzhou fried rice, and clams in black bean sauce.
Right next to the restaurant is the Eduardo Marques Square, a Portuguese-style square where the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier (built in 1928) is located and that brilliantly illustrates the mix between Eastern and Western cultures. It was at this square that the students, after dinner, played with popular children toys “bang snaps” and “air bubbles”, deepening their understanding of the local costumes.
This Macao Inside Out Event, kindly sponsored by the Macao Foundation, ended with a trip to the Tam Kung Temple, a nearby temple that was constructed in 1862 in honour of Tam Kung, one of the Gods who could forecast the weather, according to Chinese folk legends.
