USJ Joined Alliance of Universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau on 15th November 2016



On November 15, 2016, a ceremony was held in Zhongshan University (ZSU), Guangdong, to formally announce the creation of the Alliance of Higher Education Institutions in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau. Prof. Vincent Cheng Yang, Pro-Rector, and Prof. Jenny Oliveros Lao, Registrar, represented USJ joined senior representatives of other founding member universities at this inauguration. A total of over 100 senior representatives of 10 best universities in Guangdong, all 9 universities in Hong Kong and 7 universities and colleges in Macau attended the event. High-ranking officials of Guangdong Provincial Government, the Liaison Offices of the Central Government and relevant departments in the governments of HKSAR and MSAR attended the event and gave their endorsement. ZSU, HKU and University of Macau proposed the idea to form this alliance in order to create a “one-hour circle of academic cooperation” amongst the universities. Rector Fr. Peter Stilwell wrote a congratulation letter to the Alliance to welcome the students and professors of member universities visit the new campus of USJ in 2017.
