March 25, 2015 | USJ Debating Championship

To limit or not to limit, that was the question that 4 USJ debate teams (8 speakers), made up of elected C1/C2 students, had to discuss in 5 minute speeches. This was the second debate competition the current English Debate Team has conducted in USJ in three years, and this time is was hosted as part of the Language Week English Day in the Speakers’ Hall (March 25). The motion that was intensely debated was:

THIS HOUSE WOULD LIMIT THE NUMBER OF TOURISTS TO MACAU

In all, it was a great success and an acknowledgement of great effort should be given to all participants of the competition, and also to the students that took part in the debate exercises in classes prior to the competition. The USJ English Debate Society is very grateful to all the teachers that put weeks of effort and collaborating with us to make this happen so well. We are also very grateful to our sponsors, Macau Foundation, for their generous and continued support for student activities.

March 21- 22, 2015 | GAES Basketball Tournament (Semi-Finals / Final)

Last Sunday March 22, USJ Male Basketball Team played the dispute for the 4th place of the 2015 GAES Basketball Competition; the competition started on 28 February and has final come to an end last weekend. The closing ceremony was filled with fun, as the place was filled with a strong spirit of teamwork. Our participants have developed a lot all throughout the competition and trainings that were held beforehand and both the male and female teams were praised by the other teams for their vast development.

The team did their best in the competition have lost against MUST with a score of 52:62. Nevertheless, they have learned and progressed a lot, and have won the 4th place. We would like to acknowledge the support and guidance from their coach Andrew Wong, the dancing club as cheering team as well as the countless support from the USJ colleagues and students.

March 21, 2015 | USJSA BBQ Gathering

The Student Association of USJ hosted the BBQ Gathering in Hac Sa Beach last March 21, 2105. The gathering was a good opportunity for the local students to meet with the international students especially those living in the student residence and a chance for students of different levels to come together and mingle with each other. Food and drinks were prepared and the students took turn in preparing cooked food for each other. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon as the fun and games went on until night.

USJ Basketball Teams had a very intense game last weekend. The Male and Female Teams had practiced and have been coached intensely. Despite losing the game, both teams have shown a fighting spirit! They have enjoyed the game and they’ll be stronger and better for the upcoming ADUM Basketball Competition. The chief referee had a very positive comment on our two teams as they played proactively. We would also like to thank the dancing club to be the cheering team for the two competitions.
