INTLOday

In order to help the international students adapt to a new life in Macao, with the support of the International Relations (IR), University Residence Office (URO) and USJ buddies, Office for Student Affairs (OSA) organized the very first International Students’ Orientation at the USJ on the 4th of September, 2015. Around 30 international freshmen from different nationalities had attended the orientation on that day.

During the event, our Rector Prof Peter Stilwell has delivered the welcome speech to the International students and provided a general overview of USJ while Ms. Paula Mota from IR, Ms. Rebeca Lou from URO and Ms. Teresa Loong from OSA also gave a brief introduction of their departments and their team members. Moreover, some ice-breaking games were organized to help participants get to know each other andstudent helpers also shared the local useful information and some basic Cantonese phrases with the new students.  Besides, special Cultural performances were arranged by Christian Studies to give the new student a warm welcome. At the end of the orientation, all the students were invited to taste the local cuisine in a dim sum restaurant. They were given the opportunity to use chopsticks and taste the variety of foods they encountered. Both International students and USJ buddies broadened their horizons by learning things about each other.

We would also like to send our gratitude to the USJ buddies who have been spending their summer holiday working for this meaningful event.
