Jenny Lao-Phillips

Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law | Associate Professor | Research Coordinator for the Faculty of Business and Law

Jenny Oliveros Lao Phillips is the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). Prior to her current position, Prof. Phillips was appointed Registrar from 2016 to 2018, and Head of Public Relations Office from 2015 to 2018. She started working as a full-time academic at USJ in 2008. Before joining USJ, Prof. Phillips taught Business English at the Macao Polytechnic Institute and worked as a Cantonese/English interpreter and translator. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration awarded with the highest honor of summa cum laude from USJ in 2015. Prof. Phillips was born and educated in Macao. She holds a bachelor's degree in Tourism Business Management from the Institute for Tourism Studies, where she also received a higher diploma in Hotel Management and undertook specialized management training in public relations. She finished her MBA at USJ (IIUM) in 2003 with a thesis on customer satisfaction. Then, diverging from her management studies, she devoted her time in studying Literature and completed an MA dissertation on "The Ritual and the Sacred in Peter Shaffer's Theatre". In 2008, she was awarded a Master of Arts in English Studies (Literature Specialisation) with the highest grade of "Excellent" from the University of Macau. Prof. Phillips has over 20 years of teaching experience and has taught a wide range of courses, including Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Global Strategy, Service Operations, Managing Social Services, Creative Writing, and Literature. Her publications and research interests are in the areas of family business, social entrepreneurship, organizational behaviour and innovation, e-government, tourism and hospitality, empathy, and catharsis in tragedy and modern theatre.  She has been a researcher at the Faculty of Human Science at the Catholic University of Portugal, working on a research project bridging cognitive science in empathy and literature studies in catharsis focusing on tragic theatre. She is also a writer and a poet featured at the Macau Literary Festival in 2018 and 2020. Her first children's novel, The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac, was published in 2006. Her poems, poetry translations, and articles have appeared in Poesia Sino-Occidental, Poetry.com, The Drunken Boat, Poetry Sky, and other publications and local press. She wrote a bi-weekly column about local culture and tradition, "Made in Macao", in the English newspaper Macau Daily Times from 2015 to 2019. Prof. Phillips' latest research and academic projects focus on the development of sustainable business. Douty Diakité

Associate Professor | Head of the Department of Law and Public Policy

Ansoumane Douty DIAKITE is an Associate Professor at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in Macau, where he has held numerous academic leadership roles since 2009. He currently serves as Head of the Department of Law and Public Policy, Coordinator of the Macau Academy of Comparative Alternative Dispute Resolution, and oversees several graduate programs, including the Master of Community Development and the Master of Lusophone and Public International Law.Prof. DIAKITE holds a PhD in Government Studies from USJ and a Master’s in European, International, and Comparative Law from the University of Macau, with a research focus on international investment arbitration. His undergraduate studies were completed at the Sorbonne-affiliated Institut de Droit des Affaires Internationales (IDAI) in Cairo between 2002 and 2006.Beyond his academic degrees, he has pursued extensive professional training, earning certificates and diplomas in international law, arbitration, intellectual property, sustainable development, and management. These include a Graduate Studies Program certificate from the UN Office in Geneva (2007), diplomas in International Commercial Arbitration and Trade and Investment Law (2008, 2020), and a certificate in International Private Law from the Hague Academy. He also received training in Macau’s legal system, cyber resilience, and management from 2015 to 2020.Prof. DIAKITE’s contributions extend beyond academia. He co-founded the Association for the Promotion of African Business Law in Cairo in 2006 and served as President of the African Chamber of Commerce in Macau from 2015 to 2018. Alessandro Lampo

He also possesses an MBA and a Diploma in Project Management from the University of Reading, UK, as well as a Diploma in Digital Marketing, Digital Communication, and Multimedia from the Digital Marketing Institute. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) at the Swiss School of Management (SSM).With over 20 years of experience primarily in publicly listed companies across various sectors, including Property, Retail, Integrated Resorts, Attractions, and Merchandising, Tony brings extensive expertise in marketing, new product development, leadership, management, business strategy, training and entrepreneurship. His professional journey spans North America, Asia, and the Middle East, providing him with a diverse global perspective.In his spare time, Tony is an author, involved with local SMEs, and angel investing. Emil Marques

Senior Lecturer | Coordinator for Executive Training Programmes

Emil is a native of Macau who finished his studies abroad at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada where he obtained his double degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Bachelor of Commerce (Operations Management).  Upon his return from Canada, Emil served as Business Development Manager for Strategic Capital Group of HK under the portfolio of Asian Financial Intelligence platform for online trading in 2000.  His responsibilities included stock exchange markets in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.  After riding the internet financial wave in Hong Kong, Emil returned to Macau and served for 8 years in the Financial Services Bureau of Macau in the Public Asset Management Department.  His career progression from civil service to research and policy development was ignited during his next public administration position at the Macao Government Tourist Office in the Organization Planning and Development Department where research reports and data regarding tourism related policies were collected and analyzed.  His data collection and research duties at the MGTO involved collaboration with the UNWTO and production of tourism related reports for local and overseas authorities. In 2009, Emil finished his Masters in Financial Management from SOAS, University of London and was invited to join the University of Saint Joseph to serve in the development of the undergraduate programme and work as a project manager within the Rector's Office.  He commenced his teaching at the University of Saint Joseph in the Bachelor of Government Studies and Bachelor of Business Administration programmes.  He also initiated the lifelong learning programmes at USJ and established linkages to entrepreneurial networks of the Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau Greater Bay Area.  Emil commenced his PHD in Business Administration in 2018 with a focus on the Open Innovation of the Greater Bay Region. Emil is very active in the local NGO community and holds directorship at various local and regional organizations.

Michael Ha

Michael Ha has held a number of positions in the disciplines of financial actuarial mathematics and financial risk management in both the academic and industrial sectors. Previously, he was the Founding Chair of the Department of Science and Engineering at Sino-US College of Beijing Institute of Technology, Zhuhai, the Founding Director of the MSc Financial Mathematics programme at Xian-Jiaotong Liverpool University and Visiting Professor at SKEMA Business School.In the finance industry, Michael was Vice President of Strategic Business Initiatives Unit at ING Insurance, a Dutch finance group in its Taiwan life insurance subsidiary. He was Finance Director and Product Development Director of CUNA, a US mutual insurance group, working in its Greater China operation. In the insurance industry, Michael worked at Metropolitan Life, Buck Consultants, Samsung Fire & Marine, New York Life, Manulife, AIG, CIGNA, CUNA and ING in Canada, USA, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, India, China, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and Thailand on actuarial valuation, product development, pricing, Asset & Liability Management, Dynamic Solvency Testing, Asset Allocation, Performance Attribution, Performance Measurement, Investment Manager Selection, Custodian Selection, Bancassurance and Alternative Distribution.Michael worked in the financial risk management industry at MSCI-Barra and Quantshop focusing on business strategic planning, portfolio construction and quant technique consultation. Leanda Care

Associate Professor | Head of the Department of Psychology

Dr Leanda Care is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph, Macau, with teaching and supervisor responsibilities also in the Faculty of Business and Law. Leanda currently holds the appointment of Head of the Department of Psychology. She previously held positions at the university as co-coordinator of the MBA program and founding coordinator of the Career Centre. She holds a first class honours Bachelor of Arts in Japanese and Ethnomusicology from Monash University and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School, the University of Melbourne. Stephan Rothlin

Dr. Stephan Rothlin SJ is director of the Macau Ricci Institute (www.riccimac.org) and Research Professor of the Faculty of Business and Law of the University of St. Joseph, Macau. He serves also as founder and CEO of Rothlin Consulting Limited, located in Beijing and in Hong Kong (www.rothlin.org).  His teaching and research interests are focused on international business ethics and responsible entrepreneurship with a focus on China. He provides educational consulting services to encourage the practice of corporate social responsibility, and advocates amongst business communities and society at large the values of honesty, integrity, respect, transparency and responsibility as indispensable elements for excellence in business. Dr. Rothlin completed his academic studies in 1991 with a PhD in moral theology at the State University of Innsbruck, Austria, and is fluent in six languages, including Mandarin Chinese, English, Spanish, Italian, French, and German. From 1992 – 1998, he was the executive director of the Academic Centre, AKI, in Zürich and research fellow at the Institute of Empirical Research in Economics of the University of Zürich in Switzerland. From 1998-2012, he served as guest professor of international business ethics at The Beijing Center for Chinese Studies in Beijing. Since his relocation to Beijing in 1998, he has become a sought-after speaker on international business ethics, having taught at various business schools throughout Asia, including Renmin University, Peking University, Tsinghua University, the Central Party School in Beijing, Hong Kong University and INSEAD Business School, Singapore. From 2005 – 2013, he was secretary general for the Centre for International Business Ethics, Beijing, and chairman of the Association of International Business Ethics in Hong Kong.

Mr. Sérgio Gomes is the head of the business department at the Faculty of Business and Law and the coordinator for the Master of Business Administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Saint Joseph. His research centers on the Macau economy, with particular attention paid to the gaming-intensive tourism sector, its benefits to the economy, and other economic sectors. After his major in business administration at the Instituto Superior de Gestão in Portugal, he obtained a Master's degree in Business Administration at the School of Business at the University of Saint Joseph. In his Master's dissertation, he performed a valuation exercise on a world-leading company on the development and operation of integrated resorts. Susana Costa e Silva

Susana Costa e Silva holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from University College Dublin (Ireland). She earned her M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Porto (Portugal). Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Porto), with a habilitation in Marketing. She serves as the coordinator of the M.Sc. in Management and the M.Sc. in Marketing programs. Additionally, she is a researcher in the areas of marketing and AI, international business, retailing, digital consumer behavior, strategic and international marketing, social marketing, and cause-related marketing. She also holds the position of professor at the University of Saint Joseph in Macao. Susana was a visiting researcher at the Wroclaw University of Economics in Poland.Susana has authored and co-authored several books and book chapters on International Business, International Marketing, and Cooperation in Portugal, the UK, Brazil, China, and the USA. Presented papers at many international conferences held by the IAACA, UN, China Criminal Law Research Society, Macau Lawyers Association and International Association of Lawyers, and various other academic and professional associations.楊誠 博士, 澳門聖若瑟大學商学及法律学院兼职正教授。第十一屆中國人民政治協商會議海外華僑華人列席代表，澳門永久居民。加拿大西門菲莎大學犯罪學博士（1996），上海市社會科學院法學碩士（1985），華東政法大學法學研究生畢業文憑（1984），上海師範大學專科文憑（1980），並于2001年修完加拿大不列顛哥倫比亞大學法學碩士的全部課程。英國劍橋大學訪問學者（犯罪學研究所及沃夫生學院1986-1987，聖約翰學院1990）。1984年以來在多所大學任教，主講法律、國際關係、犯罪學及刑事司法和公共行政課程。2010-2018年任澳門聖若瑟大學國際法講座教授，2014-2018年任助理校长、副校长。2008-2010年任汕頭大學法學院代院長和教授。 曾任北京師範大學刑事法律科學研究院講座教授及博士生導師，获中國國家檢察官學院、上海市社會科學院法學所、中國政法大學訴訟法研究中心、人民大學國際刑法研究所、四川大學、深圳大學和華中科技大學等多所大學頒授的兼職教授/研究員榮譽性聘書。2002-2007年任澳門科技大學法學院教授和副院長（2005-2007）。 2001-2002年任澳門大學法學院訪問副教授。1984-1990年在上海任華東政法大學講師、《世界法學》期刊副主編、比較法研究室主任。现在位于加拿大温哥华的不列颠哥伦比亚大学内的刑法改革與刑事政策國際中心任高級研究員，並于1995-2010年任该中心中加刑事司法合作研究計畫主任。加拿大國際發展署和外交部對華法律及司法改革技術合作主要項目加方執行單位专家和顧問（1995-2013）。曾任聯合國人權高級專員辦公室等國際組織的國際專家。1985年獲中國律師資格，並於1985-1990年間從事律師工作。1987-1990年兼任《民主與法制》期刊社長法律顧問、編輯。1995-1997兼任美國甘納、瑞恩、何蒂斯律師事務所中國法國際專家。國際刑法改革学会理事，國際反貪局聯合會等國際專業學會成員，曾任廣東省法學會理事，廣東省法律教育研究會代會長。在中國最著名的外逃罪犯賴昌星等重大遣返案件中擔任加拿大移民部專家證人。已發表的研究成果涉及聯合國反腐敗公約、有組織犯罪公約、人權公約、金融犯罪、刑事訴訟、公訴制度、社區矯正等諸多專題，合作編輯出版的著作25本。在國際反貪局聯合會、多個聯合國機構和中國刑事法學研究學會、澳門律師公會和國際律師聯盟等專業協會的研討會上發表许多論文。
