(資料目前僅提供英文版本)

This course analyses the development of Modern Missions in Asia from the 16th to the 20th century. It will focus on changing institutional backgrounds, such as Portuguese and Spanish patronage, the Congregation de Propaganda Fide, Missionary Societies, colonialism, and decolonialization. Special attention is given to the historical unfolding of each church’s distinct characteristics in China, India, Macau, the Philippines, Japan, Korea, Indochina (Vietnam), and Indonesia, considering their unique cultural, political, and religious contexts. The module concludes by addressing the question of why Christianisation in Asia is often considered a failure.
