The Macau Ricci Institute (MRI) was founded in 1999 is a nonprofit, study and research institution dedicated to fostering better mutual understanding between China and the global community.

Offering a unique blend of cultural, professional, and research programmes, the purpose and method of the MRI are best summed up in its links with the city of Macao, the people of China, the Society of Jesus, and Fr. Matteo Ricci (1552-1610), whose example of friendship in and for China remains a guiding light for MRI, as the institution continues to seek the promotion of cultural exchange, thereby strengthening common values (MRI purposes).

While frequently organising events, MRI also possesses several publications, namely:

MRI has a joint partnership with USJ, having, for example, jointly organised events like the International Symposium 2018 titled “Exploring The Belt & Road Initiative: The Challenge Of Cross-Cultural Exchange And Communication” and the MRI Forum on “The Migration Crisis and Policy in Europe”.
