The “Briefing on the China People’s Political Consultative Conference” campus activity series at USJ



The “Briefing on the China People’s Political Consultative Conference” campus activity series, organised by the Macao Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Members Association and co-organised by University of Saint Joseph (USJ), was held on April 12, 2021 at the Fátima Auditorium, USJ Ilha Verde Campus.

Mr. Lei Heong Iok, Honorary President of Macau CPPCC Members Association, and Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC, and Ms. Song Pek Kei,  Committee Member of Macau CPPCC, were invited as speakers to share their experiences and views on the development of national policies with more than a hundred USJ students and staff members.

During the talk, Mr. Lei spoke about the historical development of USJ and the Ilha Verde campus, and the importance of USJ as the “first bridge” between the Catholic Church and China, as well the development and cooperations between higher education of Portuguese-speaking countries.

Ms. Song gave a very in-depth introduction of how the CPPCC of Macao was elected and how  it represents the Special Administrative Region and its people. She also encourage the students to get involved and to pay attention to local affairs and learn the importance of understanding policies of the Central government.

The event finished with a Q&A session between the two speakers and the participating students.

Participating guests include Mr. Wang XiaoGang, Head of CCPPC Coordination Division, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR and other members of the Macau CPPCC Members Association including: Mr. Frederico Ma, President of Macau CPPCC Members Association; Mr. Francisco Ho, Executive Vice President and Secretary of Macau CPPCC Members Association; Ms. Wong Suk Yan, Vice President of Macau CPPCC Members Association; Ms. Linda Chen, Member of the External Affairs Committee; and Mr. Charles Choy, Vice Chairman of Macau CPPCC Members Association.
