On March 9, 2021, a group of students from the Communication and Media Bachelor programme at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) participated in a workshop co-organised by Dr. Sheyla S. Zandonai, Visiting Professor at USJ, and the UNU-MACAU Cyber Resilience team, headed by Dr. Mamello Thinyane.

The workshop was designed to offer the students an opportunity to put their public relations strategic planning skills into practice.

Held at the UNU-MACAU building, the activity began with the Cyber Resilience team introducing the research project and project stakeholders, i.e. local government/policymakers, media, local civil society organisations, and the academic sector. A brainstorming session followed with students divided into groups to discuss and draft communication strategies that could aid the Cyber Resilience team to effectively engage with each of the identified stakeholder groups.

Students then presented their recommendations to the team and received feedback about the efficacy and feasibility of the communication strategies and tactics proposed for the project.

During the workshop, students were also invited to test and provide feedback about a mobile application that the team is currently developing to help users become more cyber aware and resilient in the face of adverse cyber incidents.
