Macau Spin adopts a flat hierarchy with a Manager running the operations of the incubator.

In the start-up phase of the incubator, one of the three partners Marco Rizzolio will adopt the position of Incubator Manager. Before the physical incubator is constructed, Macau Spin will run as a virtual incubator, the Manager will work with the USJ-FBL and BN Lawyers in business development.

In order to create synergy between events organized by Macau Spin and by the USJ-FBL, during the early stage, events will be organized in collaboration with USJ-FBL and Mentors will be faculty members of the FBL. Moreover, student ambassadors will be recruited for secretariat job at the incubator during the early stage.

Álvaro Barbosa

Álvaro Barbosa (Angola 1970) is an Academic with 25 years of work experience in multiple Universities across Europe, the United States and China. He is presently serving as Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Strategic Development at the University of Saint Joseph in Macao. Professor Barbosa was part of several spin-off and technology transfer projects at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona-Spain. He pioneered an Incubation framework at the Catholic University of Portugal, mentoring entrepreneurship and innovation skills amongst students, leading to a decade long track record of successful businesses emerging from these Universities.


Benjamin Yue

Benjamin Yue Zongbin, born in Shandong Province in 1969, obtained a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from Shandong University, China, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. He was awarded a master’s degree in Business Administration by the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in 2005. Mr Yue started his engineering career with China Electric Power Research Institute in 1995 and joined Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM) in 1999. Mr Yue is the Principal Advisor to the Executive Committee of CEM. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and Chairman of the Macao Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Mr Yue, as an active alumnus of USJ, has been working for the Alumni Association of USJ for more than ten years and now is Vice Chairman of the Alumni Association of USJ. Since 2017, Mr Yue has been nominated as a member of the Advisory Council on Environment of the Macao government.


Bruno Nunes

Bruno Nunes (Mozambique, 1974) is a lawyer with 22 years of experience in multiple firms and public departments universities in Portugal and Macau. Bruno Nunes focuses his practice on corporate matters, assisting startups in developing and protecting their intellectual property rights. He is considered one of the World’s Top 300 Intellectual Property Strategists and Global Leaders and one of Shenzhen’s Leading Foreign Lawyers. Bruno Nunes is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Law of the University of Saint Joseph and also serves on the Brands and Innovation Committee of the International Trademark Association.


Jenny Phillips

Jenny Oliveros Lao Phillips (Macau 1978) has been teaching a wide range of courses at Tertiary institutions in Macau for the past 19 years. Her research and studies currently focus on entrepreneurship and social enterprises. She has taught courses such as Creativity Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Managing Social Service Organizations, Product Design and Development, Family Business Management, Marketing for Entrepreneurs, Global Strategic Management, and Literature and Creative Writing, to name a few. In the last two decades, Prof. Phillips co-founded a few local literary arts and artistic events ventures and has conducted case studies on Macau’s traditional enterprises.


Manuel Pires

Member of Board of Directors, Holy House of Mercy

Manuel Pires (Macau 1959) retired after almost 37 years of public service, with extensive experience in Tourism and Broadcast Media. His last 14 years of working experience in the Tourism managerial position were mainly focused on Industry Supervision and Regulation during the creation of new hotel facilities resulting from the liberalization of the gambling sector in Macau. In his last position as Chairman of the Executive Committee of  TDM, the local public service broadcaster, Manuel oversaw the organization’s digitalization process and the migration of contents to multimedia platforms. After retiring, he continues to be active in local non-profit activities as a Board Member of the Holy House of Mercy, the oldest non-profit charity organization in Macau.


Marco Rizzolio

Found of Follow Me Macau

Marco Rizzolio possesses international business management experience across Europe, Latin America, and Asia. In 2016, he switched from corporate to entrepreneurship. He is active in Macau’s startup ecosystem. He is a co-founder of a startup company, Follow Me Macau Ltd. Mr Rizzolio is a part-time guest lecturer in Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Open Innovation at the City University of Macau and the University of Saint Joseph. 
Experience: Reuters Financial & Risk Division.
Interests: Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Startups, Ecosystems, Financial Markets, ESG, Foresight.


Management and operations will be overseen by the USJ-FBL.
