Short Bio

Professor Michael Lai is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Saint Joseph. He received his PhD from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2019, focusing on the strategies of sharing economy projects towards social transformation. His research and teaching interests are wide-ranging, including social policy and social development, social enterprise and social innovation, social impact assessment, programme planning and evaluation, and digital sociology. He has accumulated years of teaching experience as visiting associates since 2012 and also as a visiting lecturer from 2018 at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Apart from academic research and teaching, he has collaboration with the community organizations, non-governmental organizations and social enterprises in Hong Kong and Taiwan for community training and programme evaluation. Prior to academia, he worked in various fields including social welfare sector, think tank and university research institute.
