聖若瑟大學任命新校長

聖若瑟大學(聖大)校董會於今天（3月14日，星期六）舉行了第一次會議。會議結束前，本校校監李斌生主教宣布，大學的擁有人「天主教會大學暨高等教育基金」在上個星期六任命麥侍文教授為聖大下一任校長。麥侍文教授是一位威爾士籍的執事，自2018年9月起擔任本大學的教授，預計於7月接任新校長一職。
擁有人向各校董會成員和院長們咨詢了關於聖大所面對的挑戰以及理想的新任校長概況。相關咨詢答案已提供給基金會成員，並於3月7日任命麥教授為聖大下一任校長。
校董會上，現任校長薛沛德教授介紹自2012年以來的學生人數和大學帳目，核准了有關「教職人員晉升機制」和「頒授榮譽博士」的重要文件。
自2月初以來，聖若瑟大學已進行一系列密集式的線上學習，有關線上教學的“相等出席率”准則亦被核准。大學希望，這具有挑戰性的經歷最終將有助於澳門將新穎和傳統的教學方法持續融合，帶來更多互動的教學方式。

The new General Council of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) held its first session today, Saturday 14 March. Before the meeting adjourned, the Chancellor, D. Stephen Lee Bun-sang, announced that the University’s titleholder, the Catholic Foundation for Higher Education had on the previous Saturday appointed as USJ’s next Rector, Prof. Stephen Morgan, a Welsh deacon who has been a professor at the University since September 2018. The installation of the new Rector is expected to take place in July.
The titleholder had consulted the members of the General Council and the deans of the academic units on the challenges that USJ faces and the desirable profile for its next rector. The answers were made available to the members of the Foundation who, on Saturday, March 7, appointed Prof. Morgan.
During the General Council meeting, the current Rector, Prof. Peter Stilwell, presented data on the number of students and on the University’s accounts since 2012. Important documents were approved on academic staff progression and on the award of honorary doctorates.
The criteria for Equivalence of Attendance in Online Modules were also approved, in a working document rooted in the intense online learning underway in the University of Saint Joseph since early February. The University hopes that this challenging experience will eventually contribute to a lasting integration in Macau of novel and traditional methods in a more interactive teaching.

Decorreu hoje, Sábado 14 de Março, a primeira reunião do novo Conselho Geral da Universidade de São José. No final dos trabalhos, o Chanceler, D. Stephen Lee Bun-sang, anunciou aos presentes que a Fundação Católica de Ensino Superior Universitário havia designado na semana anterior o próximo Reitor da Universidade, o Prof. Stephen Morgan, diácono galês que é docente da USJ desde Setembro 2018. Prevê-se que tomada de posse ocorra no mês de Julho.
A entidade titular consultou primeiro os membros do Conselho Geral e os directores das unidades académicas sobre os desafios que a USJ enfrenta e o perfil desejável para um próximo reitor. As respostas foram disponibilizadas aos membros da Fundação que, no Sábado 7 de Março, procederam à designação do Prof. Morgan.
Na sessão do Conselho Geral, o actual Reitor, Prof. Peter Stilwell, apresentou dados sobre a evolução do número de alunos e das contas da Universidade desde 2012. Foram também homologados documentos importantes sobre a progressão na carreira docente e sobre a concessão do doutoramento honoris causa.
O Conselho apreciou ainda os critérios de Equivalência de Presença em Módulos Online. O documento de enraíza na intensa aprendizagem on-line em curso na Universidade de São José desde o início de Fevereiro. A Universidade espera que esta experiência desafiante venha a contribuir para uma integração duradoura em Macau dos métodos novos e tradicionais num ensino presencial diversificado.
