SBL’s Prof. Jenny Phillips and ISDO’s Daniel Farinha were presenters at The Lisbon Consortium’s “Neurohumanities: Promises & Threats”
Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of School of Business and Law (SBL), Mr. Daniel Farinha, Head of Information Systems Development Office (ISDO), and Prof. Carlos Caires, Dean of Faculty of Creative Industries, participated in The Lisbon Consortium‘s Summer School for the Study of Culture on the topic “Neurohumanities: Promises & Threats”.
Prof. Phillips and Mr. Farinha presented their research papers on “Towards a Theory of Empathic Catharsis: from Greek tragedy to on-screen drama” and “Re-Decentralising Our Minds: A peer-to-peer collaborative alternative to surveillance capitalism”. Prof. Caires was invited as Chair for two days of paper presentations.
The conference ran from 1 to 6 July at different iconic location in Lisbon, including the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Tejo Power Station, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and the Museu do Oriente.
The Lisbon Consortium is a partnership between the Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programmes in Culture Studies at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa‘s Faculty of Human Sciences and prestigious institutions in Lisbon.
