President Xi Jinping Sends Greetings to University Professors and Students in Macau

Rector Fr. Peter Stilwell attended a high-level meeting at the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government together with the Chief Executive of MSAR



On June 15, Rector Fr. Peter Stilwell attended a high-level meeting at the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government together with the Chief Executive of MSAR and rectors of all other universities and colleges in Macau. At this meeting, the Director of the Liaison Office, Zheng Xiaosong, read a letter from the Research Office of the General Branch of CCP Central Committee, which states that President Xi Jinping is very pleased to see that universities in Macau have made new progress in innovation in science and technology. In this letter, it is also announced that President Xi wishes universities in Macau 1. achieve more progresses in training more talented people who love China and love Macau, 2. help to diversify Macau’s economy, and 3. contribute to the development of the Guangdong, HK and Macau Greater Bay.

 

It is believed that President Xi’s instruction will be taken into consideration by the government in setting up its priorities to support higher education in Macau in the coming years. The Rector made a statement at the meeting yesterday to welcome and support this development. We believe that implementing President Xi’s instructors by the government will provide excellent opportunities for the enhancement of quality of education in USJ and our active participation in the development of the Greater Bay.

Meeting at Liaison Office
